Overview for the Week

February 20th, 2008

While, this was a slow week, there have been some awesome things. I AM really sorry for not getting them to you right away, so here it is…

  • The Google Android was shown at the mobile conference. It wasn’t really much, since it was actually the emulator displayed on a Texas Mobile Instruments mobile phone. The actual OS is delayed. The Sony phone for the Android will be out in 2009.
  • Firefox 3 Beta was introduced to the world, and I love it. It doesn’t seem buggy, and the address bar is an actual search engine for any website you’ve gone to. Type in a word that you found on a page, and it will search all pages with that word. It’s awesome!
  • Pmog is a private beta site that allows you to play one game all across the net. A browser add-on docked at the bottom of your browser allows you to play missions and drop things such as mines. Then, when other Pmog users go onto the particular site, they get hurt by your mine. Creative, right?

Well, that’s basically it. I’ll try to keep you updated all of the time.

I don’t know about you, but I feel like celebrities have faded away during the course of this election. I’m not saying this is a bad thing or a good one. I’m just saying that I’ve noticed this. They haven’t endorsed anyone nor said anything. Well now they’ve voiced something. Here is the Yes WE CAN video clip. Send this to your friends.

Audio Ads? No Way! (Yes Way)

February 3rd, 2008

Five second audio ads are making their way to websites near, or accessible, by you. Pay-Per-Play NetAudioAds just opened yesterday, and it allows webmasters to earn commission every time a person check out their blog. Why am I telling you this? Because this is what I am doing. The audio will probably not start until 30 to 60 days after this post, but once it starts, and you don’t like it, just go back to this post and complain. I’m open to taking this off if my users really don’t like it, but at least give it a try. Remember that I need the money to continue the blog. Oh, and if you want to try this out, don’t hesitate, you could still be a core user, Sign up here.

NOTE: You do not even have to have a website to earn the money. This program has a referral system too. Just sign up and contact you friends.

Sprout Builder-Get in Now!

February 2nd, 2008

Sprout is a creative builder which allows you to build widgets (or sprouts) easily. It uses flash to build and then easily allows you to embed or post this on anything including facebook. It allows you to add music, videos, dates, images, and more to a sprout. Here is a sample of what you can do:

Right now, Sprout is in private beta, but you might be able to get an account with this. Just go to the building area, create something, save it, and it will ask you to create an account before you work is saved. There you have it!

Netvibes is a customizable web page where you can add widgets (such as igoogle but with a better design). The 5 star widgets I think are most important to note are gmail and facebook as well as an rss feed application where you can add you favorite blogs (not gonna say anything). Netvibes recently added a move and drop feature in their NETVIBES GINGER BETA and even more awesome. There are several different codes that you can enter to get into this private version (note: some might be already be used up as they were all set up with a number of invites): FACEBOOK, TCGINGER500, 100GINGERWW, and WIREDGIN100 (you also need an account before you sign up.) If you can’t get that, well I MIGHT be able to help you out…Sign Up Here

If you want, more widgets. You can also make one at Orchestr8. They have a cool clipping thing where you can get a website and clip any part of it. Check it out. It’s a must try. Heres my version of it:

Endorsing Obama For President

January 20th, 2008

061207obama.jpgToday I am going to endorse Barack Obama. I’ve been a fan of him for months, but now I’m going to start something bigger. I know it’s not something if I just say it (like the big ol’ devil, Hillary Clinton, says) so in the next few weeks I’ll begin helping him out. Get ready to see a big change. (NOTE: I did purposely put some categories on the post that have no relevance to the intended purpose, but take a look at it. You’ll find that it is sort of related.)

youtorrent.jpgLike illegally and legally downloading music, movies, and more? Really? Me too (note: not really!) YouTorrent is the newest search engine available. It searches many of the pirate websites including BitTorrent and allows you to download them. It also compares the results of the pirate sites so you can make the correct choice and most likely not get a virus on your computer. As it is a search engine, not an actual pirate date site, it may not be shut down. However, it may so try it now!

SciFi Google

January 20th, 2008

Think Google knows everything? Well now it knows more. Google is opening up terabytes of information on databases for scientists. 120 terabytes of images will be taken from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Archimedes Palimpsest. Google will also be creating a Youtube like social site for these scientists so they can create an experiment and have others comment on their project. Cool, eh?

Musana-Your Music Online

January 18th, 2008

Private Beta site, Musana is a website where you upload an unlimited number of mp3’s (only limit is 15mb a song) and stream them to your computer. Like other sites, you can also embed the players into your website. The website has a really cool flash and javascript interface. It is a really cool a pretty darn cool idea.

The Apple keynotes was this week as most of you may know, and I found it very boring because there was nothing too exciting. Sure the Mac Air (the new skinny mac that can easily fit into a yellow envelope) is one of a kind, but for $1700? There’s no way I would want to buy something like this, even if it had a CD drive. And the movie rentals? Sure they are cool, but I don’t want to be rushed too much to watch a movie. We should be able to set the time and pay for that; instead, a petty 24 hours from pressing play. I mean, what if I fell asleep in the middle of the movie? Now what happened to Austin Powers when he was being attacked by that fat guy?
